Take a Virtual Tour

First Presbyterian Christian School meets in the building of the historic First Presbyterian Church [FPC] in downtown Spokane, Washington. This close and supportive relationship with FPC grants our student body daily access to not just our classrooms, but also playgrounds, music rooms, an indoor gymnasium, a gorgeous church sanctuary, and more! We count ourselves lucky indeed to learn in such a beautiful facility while still being a mere 15 minutes from Fairchild AFB and barely 5 minutes from Sacred Heart and Deaconess Hospitals.

Explore our facility below, and let us know if we can offer you a live virtual or in-person tour!

Elementary Classrooms

  • Grade Level Classroom

Our 1st-4th Grade students learn in classrooms that combine the important structure of a classroom environment while also providing soothing lighting, classroom libraries, free time activities, and room for movement.

  • Kindergarten

Our kindergarten students are making that big transition into school life! That’s why every kindergarten room includes not just big kid desks, but also student-made art, playtime toys, personal cubbies, and leveled books for exploration.

Preschool Classrooms

  • Morning Meetings

Both our 3-year-olds and 4-year-olds have morning meetings everyday where they sing together, learn about the calendar, practice letters and numbers, and more!

  • Play & Learn

Mr. Rogers was right when he said, “For children play is serious learning.” Our preschoolers engage in imaginative play every day! Our classrooms include open-ended toys, dress-up clothes, play-pretend areas, puzzles, engaging books, and art supplies.

Specialty Areas

  • Music Classroom

Our music room is not just any classroom… it’s the historic choir room of First Presbyterian Church! Students get to experience the joy of singing in this beautiful acoustic space, as well as experimenting with instruments and rhythm with a talented specialist teacher.

  • STEM Lab

Thanks to a generous grant from Avista and STCU, we have a dedicated STEM Lab for students of all ages! Classes regularly visit during the day to work on guided and open-ended STEM challenges. Our after-school STEM electives also use this space to dive more deeply into STEM concepts like robotics, programming, and engineering!

  • Sensory Room

Affectionately nicknamed the Break Room, this sensory space provides a soothing environment for children when they feel overwhelmed. It provides a variety of movement and stillness areas to meet the needs of sensory seekers and sensory soothers alike!

  • Sensory Activities

Regular classrooms and the Sensory Room all include tactile objects for children explore. These provide more than a chance to fidget; they allow children to regulate their bodies in a safe way, encouraging greater comfort and engagement in learning.

  • Sanctuary

We hold chapel in the gorgeous main sanctuary of First Presbyterian Church. We encourage our students to experience this space as somewhere that belongs to them too — full of joy, singing, and praising God!

  • Library

Kids love to read when they find books that spark their interests! Our library includes board books, picture books, chapter books, and informational books for birth through late elementary. K-4th grades visit weekly, and families are invited to check out materials after school as well.

  • Playground

Whenever weather allows, we love to head to the playground for recess. We have playgrounds aimed for younger kids (under 5) and for elementary students. Children need to run, shout, and play every day!

  • Outdoor Lawn

We may be located in the heart of Spokane, but we are still blessed with a large, fenced outdoor lawn for our students to play! Teachers regularly take classes out for exploratory play with bubbles, outdoor sensory bins, and messy art.

  • Indoor Gym

Our gymnasium hosts elementary P.E. and after-school electives on a weekly basis! This immense heated space is a refuge for those overflowing with energy when it’s just a little too cold to get outside.
